VICKI MOORE

Today is Remembrance Day, and we had a silence in our house to honour those who gave their lives for our security, our peace and a world to bring up our children.

Today I am remembering someone else, who in her small way, in her short life, also fought, and also gave all those she knew a heap of inspiration.

VICKI MOORE

Our dear little friend Vicki passed away 4 days ago. I have found it hard to begin to write, so many thoughts waiting in the wings. She died, at home with her family around her, as she wished. Though she was only 14 years old, with the magnificent help given by her Mum and her sister, she was in control of her life and death until her last moments. Only a couple of days previously she had asked to be 'taken for a stroll' in the sunshine, and was able to enjoy the warm sun on her face, sitting in the air. But after that, her last excursion, her little body, in the face of impossible odds, finally succumbed to the vicious disease which she had battled for so long.

I know many of you have been following her brilliant diaries and writings on Vicki's page here at BM.com .... she has been a constant source of fun and joy to me ever since I met her at the Gorillas Benefit Concert, and it will hard for all of us to do without her fantastic energy and positivity. Her Mum, Karen, has asked that Vicki's friends out there do not send anything yet, in the way of flowers or tributes. She intends to set up a trust, as Vicki wished, which will benefit other children in similar situations. So there will be a time later when we might ask you to help this cause.

I hardly have words to pay tribute to this bright young soul, so unfairly treated by life, yet so forgiving and light in spirit. But her influence will live on with us for many years to come, there are writings and music which she left behind for us to enjoy forever, and nothing will ever be quite the same, after little Vicki Moore.

Rest peacefully, little Vicki.

All Love
Brian

VICKI

Today was the day Vicki's family and friends paid their respects and celebrated a wonderful life, and an exceptional spirit, taken from this Earth unfairly way before her time. She was only 14, but in her tragically few years she lived to the max, created so much, gave so much to everyone she knew, and came to terms with her own mortality. Can any of us say the same of ourselves? She was, and is, the greatest inspiration. Hail Vicki !!! God speed you to your next fun place. May Peachiness ever attend you.

It was very private, but all her pals told great stories of her humour, her humanity, and her ability to cut through any kind of nonsense. Even her teachers told of how much they had learned from Little Vicki. I played a little bit of guitar, Mig Ayesa and Kerry Ellis sang beautifully, accompanied by me, and Elliott Ware on Keyboard. And we played a rough mix of a song of her own that Vicki has been recording at my studio. Vicki's sister Jo created some wonderful picture sequences, and her whole family presided over the most wonderful send-off that could be imagined.

Of course we will all miss her terribly.
